Jeera rice gives a nice aroma of smell all around our home when preparing it. It follows very simple steps of mixing few basic ingredients with Basmati Rice along with Ghee. It is basically a bachelor recipe.I used to do jeera rice when I initially started cooking during my college days. Yellow dal will be its perfect combination with Jeera rice. It is perfectly a healthy recipe to try out

Ingredients for Jeera rice:

Preparation Time: 10 mins | Cook Time: 25 mins | Serves: 2-3

  • Basmati Rice – 1 Cup (250 grams)
  • water -2 cups (500ml)
  • Ghee -2 tbsp
  • Onion – 1 sliced
  • green chili -1 slit
  • bay leaf -2, cinnamon stick, cloves -2, star anise
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  • salt as required

Method:

  • Soak Basmati Rice in water for 20 minutes
  • In a pressure cooker, add ghee.
  • once hot, Add Cumin Seeds into it. Once it splutters, add bay leaf, cloves, cinnamon stick
  • onions can be added now and saute till turns glossy
  • water is added in the cooker along with rice (filter it from water)
  • Pressure Cook for one whistle or 10 minutes irrespective of whistle sound
  • Garnish It With Corainder Leaves
  • Ready To Serve With Yellow Dal
