Jeera rice gives a nice aroma of smell all around our home when preparing it. It follows very simple steps of mixing few basic ingredients with Basmati Rice along with Ghee. It is basically a bachelor recipe.I used to do jeera rice when I initially started cooking during my college days. Yellow dal will be its perfect combination with Jeera rice. It is perfectly a healthy recipe to try out
Ingredients for Jeera rice:
Preparation Time: 10 mins | Cook Time: 25 mins | Serves: 2-3
- Basmati Rice – 1 Cup (250 grams)
- water -2 cups (500ml)
- Ghee -2 tbsp
- Onion – 1 sliced
- green chili -1 slit
- bay leaf -2, cinnamon stick, cloves -2, star anise
- Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
- salt as required
Method:
- Soak Basmati Rice in water for 20 minutes
- In a pressure cooker, add ghee.
- once hot, Add Cumin Seeds into it. Once it splutters, add bay leaf, cloves, cinnamon stick
- onions can be added now and saute till turns glossy
- water is added in the cooker along with rice (filter it from water)
- Pressure Cook for one whistle or 10 minutes irrespective of whistle sound
- Garnish It With Corainder Leaves
- Ready To Serve With Yellow Dal
