Milagai podi is a spicy defaultside dish normally taken with idli/ dosa since my childhood. It is a must have at home to take as side dish if we do not get time to prepare any chutneys. When I was staying with my friends, my mom used to prepare this podi and one day I asked her the recipe to try out myself. Here is the below recipe which I tried to make milagai podi and stored it for anytime use
Ingredients:
Preparation Time: 5 mins| Cooking Time : 15 MinsÂ
- Urad Dal – 1 cup (100 gms)
- Channa Dal – 1/2 Cup (50 gms)
- Red Chillis – 3
- Sesame Seeds – 2 tbsp
- Asoefotida
- Salt as required
- Curry Leaves
- gingely oil as required
How to do:
- Dry Roast channa dal and urad dal in frying pan with some oil
- Once it is roasted to golden brown colour, take it out
- Roast Sesame seeds. Once it splutters, add red chillis and curry leaves
- Grind it into powder (depends on taste, grind into fine powder) adding salt and asoefotida
- Ready to serve with Dosa/Idli
