Adai (Lentil Dosa)

Adai is a healthy South Indian recipe made with Rice and Dal. It can be made so quickly and can be included in dinner time. Adai is similar to Dosa but will be in more thicker form. Whenever I feel bored of what to do for dinner time, immediately Adai will be my direct choice. I got this recipe from my mother and tried out myself. Ultimately, came out so well that I shared here the recipe of what I did. We can have butter or jaggery as side dish for Adai


Preparation Time : 5 mins | Cooking Time : 10 Mins |Soak Time : 2 hours| Serves: 2-3

  • idli Rice – 1 Cup
  • Tur Dal -1/2 Cup
  • Channa Dal – 1/2 Cup
  • Red Chilli
  • Curry Leaves
  • Salt,Water as required


  • Soak Idli RIce, tur dal and Channa dal together in a vessel for 2 hours
  • After 2 hours, grind soaked content along with red chilli and curry leaves to form a thick batter
  • Heat a dosa tawa and when hot, pour the batter like dosa or just spread out
  • Sprinkle gingely oil on all sides and wait for the base side to get golden brown
  • Flip It And Wait For The Other Side To Get Cooked
  • Optionally You Can Add Onion In The Batter For Better Taste
  • Serve Hot With Aviyal/Jaggery Powder/ Butter
