Bitter Gourd (Pavakkai Fry)

Pavakkai is one item I used to avoid as it gives bitter taste. When I went to my sister’s home, she did the recipe by adding few items to overcome its bitterness. So, I took recipe from her and tried it out. It came out really well and I perfectly enjoyed its taste now.


  • Bitter guord – 2 big
  • Curd -1/2 cup
  • Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin powder – 1 tsp
  • Corainder powder – 1 tsp
  • Salt as required


  • Take a bowl, add all the given ingredients and mix well
  • Set aside for 20 minutes
  • In a pan, add oil and add our dry mix and close it
  • Frying normally takes some time of 15-20 minutes. Open the lid and saute it in between
  • When you get the required crispiness, switch off the flame
