Lemon Rasam is a simple and quick rasam requires less number of ingredients. It does not require tamarind paste. So, it must be a good option to try out if you get bored of regular tomato rasam. I got this recipe from google through someone’s blog and tried at home. It came out successful in my first attempt. I am sharing the recipe I tried at home
Ingredients:
Preparation Time: 5 mins | Cook Time: 15 mins
- Tomato – 1
- Green Chilli -1
- Ginger grated – 1 tbsp
- Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
- Rasam powder – 1 tsp
- Tur Dal – 1/2 Cup ( Cooked )
- Lemon Juice – 3 tbsp
- Ghee/Oil – 1 tbsp
- Water – 1 Cup
- Salt as required
- Mustard Seeds -1 tsp
- Red Chilli -1
- Asoefotida/hing – 1 pinch
- Curry leaves
- Corainder leaves
Method:
- In a vessel, add tomato, green chilli, salt, turmeric powder, ginger, rasam powder and water
- Place the vessel in stove and turn it on. Allow it to boil till raw smell goes off. It takes around 5-7 minutes approximately
- Once it starts boiling, lower the flame and add cooked tur dal with water in it
- Mix everything together and let it starts boiling once again. It will take around 2-3 minutes
- Turn off the stove once it starts frothing adding corainder leaves
- In a small pan, add ghee/oil, mustard seeds. Once it splutters, add red chilli, curry leaves
- Add this to our prepared rasam
- Now add lemon juice in it, mix well
- Serve hot with any Curry
