Mysore Dosa

Mysore Dosa is a famous traditional Karnataka Style. I was introduced to this dosa through my MIL who was there at Karnataka for long period. Most of the restaurants in Karnataka serve Mysore Masala Dosa. I wanted to try out this recipe without Potato Masala for dinner. I asked for recipe from my MIL and prepared at home. I have mentioned the Masala preparation part in the recipe below. Check out my website for preparation of dosa batter

Ingredients:

Preparation Time: 5 mins | Cook Time: 5 mins/dosa | Serves: 2-3

To Roast and Grind:

  • Coriander Seeds – 2 tsp
  • Red Chilli – 5
  • Pepper – 1/8 tsp
  • Curry Leaves
  • Coconut grated – 2 tbsp
  • Water as required

Method:

  • Heat a pan, dry roast the “To roast and grind” ingredients for 5 minutes till becomes golden brown
  • Once cooled, grind it to a fine paste. Add 1-2 tbsp water if required

Now, mysore masala is ready!!! Need to layer this mixture on top of dosa

  • Heat dosa tawa. Once hot, spread the dosa batter with a laddle in round shape
  • Place 2-3 tbsp of prepared Masala mix on top and spread it with back of spoon. Add ghee/oil to dosa. Generally, butter is added to Mysore Dosa
  • Allow this to cook for 2-3 minutes till the bottom part turns golden brown
  • Fold the dosa and Serve hot

Note: Mysore Masala Dosa follows same procedure with the additional topping of potato masala on top
