Finger Millet dosa or ragi dosa is a healthy tiffin item. it is a highly proteinaceous Ingredient to include in everyday’s diet. as a vegetarian, i wanted to include ragi in my routine food habits. as i like dosa very much, i thought of preparing dosa with Finger-millet/ragi, which eventually came up to this wonderful dosa recipe. Finger Millet or ragi dosa batter is prepared using fermentation method. I cooked onion chutney as side dish for this dosa.
Ingredients for finger millet dosa:
- FingerMillet/Ragi – 1 cup (200 gms)
- idly rice – 1 cup (200gms)
- urad dal – 1/2 cup (100gms)
- salt as required
- oil as required
- water as required
Method:
Soak Time: 3 hrs | Fermentation Time: 6-8 hrs/overnight | cook time: 5 mins/dosa
- Soak Fingermillet/Ragi, Idli Rice And Urad Dal Together In Water For 3 Hours
- grind the content into batter either in mixie for 3-5 minutes or grinder for 10-12 minutes till bubbles form at the top layer
- fingermillet/ragi dosa batter is ready for fermentation
- allow it to ferment overnight or 6-8 hours based on weather condition
- salt can be added while grinding or before Preparing dosa
- heat a dosa tawa, once hot, spread out oil on the surface
- spread the batter in round shape using laddle. sprinkle oil round the corner of dosa
- once the bottom part turns brown, flip the dosa to other side. let it cook for 1-2 minutes
- take out the dosa and serve hot with chutney of choice
