
Channa Masala is a perfect side dish for poori or chapathi. preparation of channa masala is so quick as it follows simple steps. This is highly proteinaceous recipe as it contains more of channa dal. recently, i made chole bhature at home and sharing the recipe here
Ingredients:
Preparation Time: 10 mins || Cook Time: 20 mins
- Onion -2 medium
- Tomato -2 Medium
- Channa dal – 1 cup( 200 gms) ( pressure cooked)
- bay leaf -2, cloves -2 , cinnamon stick
- cumin seeds – 1 tsp
- cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
- coriander powder – 1 tsp
- chili powder -1 tsp
- garam masala powder -1 tsp
- turmeric powder – 1 pinch
- ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
- lemon juice – 1 tbsp
- water as required
- oil as required
- salt as required
- dry methi leaves – 1 tbsp

Method:
- In a pan, add oil. Once hot, add cumin seeds and allow it to splutter
- now add bay leaf, cloves, cinnamon stick. saute it well
- ginger garlic paste is added carefully and mix it together
- add finely chopped onions in the pan and saute till turns translucent
- tomatoes can be added now and cook for 1-2 minutes until tomatoes are mushy
- cumin powder, coriander powder, chilli powder, garam masala powder and salt are added on top
- a pinch of turmeric powder is added. mix everything together
- add half cup of water and allow it to cook for 2-3 minutes
- cooked channa dal is added in the pan and saute it well
- mash few channas in the pan using masher to thicken the gravy. (this step is optional). allow it to cook for 3-5 minutes
- sprinkle few dry methi leaves and switch off flame
- add lemon juice on top
channa masala is ready to serve!!!
