Falooda is a south asian version of a cold dessert made with the combination of falooda seeds, sev, milk and flavor of choice. Here, I made falooda by adding seeds, sev, rose milk essence along with a topping of strawberry ice cream. It follows very simple procedures and can be quickly made. I made falooda in the morning and refrigerated it to have it in dinner time
Ingredients to make Falooda Recipe:
Preparation Time: 10 mins | Cook Time: 10 mins | Wait Time: 1 Hour| Layering Time: 10 mins
- Milk – 1 cup (350ml)
- Rose Milk Essence – 1 tsp
- Gelatin – 2 tbsp (used strawberry flavored)
- falooda seeds – 3 tsp
- falooda sev – 1/4 cup
- sugar – 1/2 cup
- water as required
Falooda seeds and falooda sev should be washed completely before use
Method:
Step 1: Pre-Preparation tasks
- In a dry bowl, soak falooda seeds in warm water. It will take 1 hour for falooda seeds to absorb water. Remove excess water using sieve before use
- Take a bowl, add gelatin powder. pour 2 cups of boiling water on top. freeze it for 1 hour
- in a pan, boil water. cook falooda sev for 5-7 minutes. Filter it to remove excess water
- in a medium saucepan, boil milk. add rose milk essence and dissolve sugar in it. Switch off flame and allow it come to room temperature
Ready with all of the items- swollen seeds, boiled sev, warm milk, jelly from gelatin and few nuts, ice cream to start making falooda
Step 2: Layering
- In a glass, start layering falooda
- firstly, add jelly
- add falooda seeds, sev on top
- pour warm milk to fill half
- again repeat the steps – jelly, seeds, sev, milk
- finally, fill top layer with ice cream of choice (this steps is completely optional and I took strawberry ice cream here)
- garnish with few nuts of choice
- Falooda is ready to serve!!! Refrigerate For 4-5 Hours To Serve Cold
