Dahi Sev Puri

Dahi Sev Puri is one of the chat snack options from Mumbai. dahi is nothing but curd we use in our home. this recipe combines sweet, sour, tangy, spicy and crispy taste together, which gives mouth-watering taste. If puris are available at home already, the method is so simple and quick. I used store bought puris for the preparation, will try to prepare such puris myself sometime. The recipe provides step by step photo for layering the puris

Ingredients to make Dahi Sev puri:

Preparation Time: 10 mins | Cook time: 10 mins | serves: 2-3

  • Puris/Golgoppas – 14 ( if serving 7 in a plate)
  • potato -2 (pressure cooked)
  • cumin powder – 2 tsp
  • chat masala powder – 2 tsp
  • chili powder – 1 tsp
  • curd – 1/2 cup (100ml)
  • Onion – 1 medium (finely chopped)
  • tomato – 1 (finely chopped)
  • green chutney (mint coriander chutney) – 2 tsp
  • tamarind dates chutney – 2 tsp
  • Sev As Required
  • salt as required
  • coriander leaves

Method:

  • In a bowl, add curd
  • combine half a tsp of cumin powder, chili powder,chat masala and salt from each
  • mix it well with the curd
  • decide on number of puris serving on a plate. (I took 7 puris/golgoppas in a plate)
  • take a puri, put a dent in the middle with thumb. repeat the same with all puris

start layering with onions, tomatoes, green chutney, dahi and other items we have

  • Stuff potatos inside each puri/golgoppa
  • next put some finely chopped tomatoes on top
  • layer the top with spicy green chutney, tamarind chutney ( optionally, red chutney is added). Chutneys are added based on taste. if you like spicy taste, can add more spicy chutney
  • sprinkle some dry cumin/jeera powder, salt, chili powder and chat masala on top covering all puris
  • put in a layer of dahi once again to give much flavor
  • add the sev on top in such a way that all puris are layered with sev
  • finally, garnish with coriander leaves
  • Dahi sev puri is ready!!!
