Coconut Burfi

Coconut Burfi is a simple and quick traditional sweet recipe. This burfi can be made with few basic ingredients such as coconut, sugar, milk and Cardamom powder. In this recipe, I did not use any condensed milk for the preparation. The whole process required only 20 minutes of cooking and 10 minutes for pre tasks. This sweet is suitable to prepare for any festivals or events. Sharing below the recipe i followed

Ingredients to make Coconut Burfi:

  • Scrapped Coconut – 2 cups (400grams)
  • Sugar – 1.5 cups (300grams)
  • ghee as required
  • cardamom powder – 1 tsp
  • milk – 3 tbsp
  • Few Cashew nuts


  • In a pan, add a tsp of ghee
  • dry roast few cashew nuts until turns golden brown
  • take out and keep this aside
  • in the same pan, add scrapped coconut, saute for 1-2 minutes
  • add the sugar and cook until sugar gets dissolved
  • keep stirring the mixture every now and then to prevent burning at the bottom
  • add milk in the pan, mix it well
  • cook until milk gets evaporated
  • add a tsp of ghee and a Tsp Of Cardamom Powder and mix it once
  • cook until moisture is completely absorbed from the coconut burfi mixture. if not, cook until the moisture is evaporated
  • the whole process takes approximately 15-20 minutes time to cook under medium flame
  • sprinkle roasted cashew nuts
  • grease a pan with ghee, transfer the coconut burfi mixture in the pan
  • tap evenly to form a square/rectangle shape with back of a spatula (greased with ghee).Keep this aside for 3 hours
  • after 3 hours, split it into desired shape and serve!!!
