Butter Cookies or Butter Biscuits are always a perfect tea time snack item. I always thought making biscuits is a lengthy process, but always wanted to give a try at home. Actually, the recipe is so simple that involves mixing all dry ingredients with right proportion, making small round balls, flatten it to a desired shape and baking it, will give a delightful and tastier butter cookies or biscuits. In this recipe, i used whole wheat for the preparation. Sharing the recipe I followed as below

Ingredients to make Whole Wheat Butter Cookies or Butter Biscuits:

Preparation Time:10 mins | Cook Time: 20 mins

  • Whole Wheat Flour – 1 cup (200grams)
  • Unsalted Butter (softened) – 1/2 cup (100 grams)
  • Sugar – 1/2 cup (75grams)
  • Milk – 2 tbsp
  • baking soda -1/2 tsp
  • Baking powder – 1 tsp
  • cardamom powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Few Cashew nuts

Method:

Step 1-Preparing Dough:

  • In a mixing bowl, add Unsalted softened (at room temperature) butter
  • beat it with a hand blender for 2-3 minutes
  • add sugar in the bowl, beat it together with butter for 5 minutes or until turns fluffy
  • add all the dry ingredients whole wheat flour, baking soda, baking powder and cardamom powder. Sieve it to prevent any lumps being formed
  • Combine everything together. DO NOT KNEAD
  • add 2 tbsp of milk and sprinkle few cashew nut powder (optional)
  • Mix it well for 5 minutes forms a dough for making Cookies (check video for reference)
  • Take a small portion of the dough and make a small ball, flatten it
  • place it in baking tray (with parchment paper on top)
  • repeat for the remaining dough
  • Mark some lines on top using fork (Optional)

In this measurement, With making medium size biscuits will give 10 or 11 Whole Wheat Butter Cookies or Biscuits

Step 2-Baking:

  • Pre-heat oven at 350F/180C for Approximately 10 minutes
  • place the baking tray inside and bake for 20 minutes (varies according to OVEN – varies between 15-20 minutes)

After 20 minutes of baking

  • Take out the baking tray and leave the biscuits to come to room temperature
