Coconut chutney is a basic chutney that goes well with breakfast as well as snacks items. it can be easily made by simply mixing ingredients such as coconut, green chili, fried gram and salt. I Just Included Ginger In The Recipe And Does Not Include Garlic. Coconut Chutney Can Be Prepared In Many Ways it can also be added with few inch of ginger and garlic pods to enhance its taste

Ingredients to make coconut chutney:

  • Scrapped coconut – 1 cup (200grams)
  • fried grams – 3 tbsp
  • green chilies – 2 or 3
  • ginger -1/8 inch
  • salt as required
  • water as required
To temper:
  • mustard seeds – 1 tsp
  • urad dal – 1 tsp
  • red chili -1
  • hing/asoefotida
  • curry leaves
  • oil as required

method:

  • in a mixie jar/blender, add the ingredients – coconut (scrapped), fried grams, green chilies, ginger, salt
  • along with water (1/4 cup)
  • grind it into fine paste

(if fried grams is not available, roasted peanuts can be replaced)

to temper:
  • in a pan, add oil
  • once hot, add mustard seeds and allow it to splutter
  • put in curry leaves and cook for a minute or until leaves turn crisp
  • add red chili and saute it together for a minute
  • hing/asoefotida can be added (optional)
  • slowly pour this into the chutney
