Ashoka Halwa or Pasi Paruppu Halwa is a traditional South Indian Glossy Dessert Recipe prepared with Mung Dal. This recipe is prepared with simply green moong dal and sugar. The recipe is so easy and quickly made by pressure cooking dal, mixing cooked dal and sugar along with ghee to make a glossy and smooth texture. generally, this dessert is made during the festival season to be shared during the feast, but can also be made during other days too.

  • ghee (1/4 cup) is added in the pan
  • combine it well and cook for 3 minutes
  • add a tbsp of ghee (when ghee is absorbed), mix it well
  • repeat (the process 3 times) adding a tbsp of ghee for every 2 minutes
  • when the halwa gets separated from the pan, add food color ( a pinch of color is mixed with a tbsp of water)
  • mix it well to spread evenly
