Rava Ladoo or Rava Laddu is a simple and delicious Diwali sweet recipe. It can be prepared with two main basic ingredients such as rava and sugar. in my home, my mother used to prepare Rava Ladoo during diwali times. The recipe involves three steps such as making grounded rava and powder, mixing all dry ingredients, making ladoos with the binding agent as ghee. Sharing the recipe I used to make at home as below
Ingredients to make Rava Ladoo | Rava Laddu:
- Rava / Semolina /Sooji – 1 cup
- Sugar – 1 cup
- Cardamom powder – 1/2 tsp
- cashewnuts -2 tbsp
- ghee as required

Method:
Step 1 – Making Rava and Sugar powder:
- In a heavy bottomed vessel, add sooji/rava with a tsp of ghee
- roast it for 5-7 minutes or until rava turns lightly golden brown
Note: make sure not to burn the rava in this step. Sauce Occasionally
- once rava is roasted, transfer to a plate
- allow it to come to room temperature
- grind into fine powder once the roasted rava is cooled off completely
- sift it once to prevent lump formation
- sugar is directly grounded into fine powder
Rava and Sugar is ready in powdery texture
Step-2: Roasting Cashewnuts:
- in a pan, add ghee and roast cashews for 2-3 minutes
- take out once the cashewnuts are completely roasted
Step-3: Mixing and making ladoos:
- in a bowl/vessel, add all dry ingredients such as powdered rava, sugar, cardamom powder and roasted cashewnuts
- add melted ghee in warm hotness in the bowl
- Mix well with a spoon and make it into round balls
- The mixture will be easy to handle. If you feel that you can’t make balls, just sprinkle 1 tblsp of milk
Note: store the rava ladoo in air tight container for a week. if you are using milk, use rava balls for 1-2 days
