Aloo Poori or masala poori is a perfect breakfast or dinner recipe. aloo poori is the perfect combination of wheat flour and potatoes to form a soft dough. more importantly, aloo pooris can be served with or without curries. whenever feel bored of preparing traditional poori and masala separately, aloo poori can be a good alternative. the recipe is so simple that requires combination of dry ingredients, adding water partly to make dough and finally deep fry it. sharing below the recipe
Ingredients to make Aloo poori:
preparation time: 15 mins | wait time: 20 mins | Cook Time: 30 mins
- Potato – 2 medium (pressure cooked)
- Wheat Flour – 1 cup
- chili powder – 1/2 tsp
- ajwain seeds – 1/2 tsp
- turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
- coriander leaves
- water as required
- oil as required
- salt as required
Method:
Step 1 – Dough Preparation:
- Grate the pressure cooked potatoes
- in a bowl, add grated potatoes, wheat flour, turmeric powder
- Add Chili Powder, Ajwain Seeds, Salt And Coriander Leaves
- water can be added partly to prepare dough (approximately 1/2 cup of water is required for 1 cup of flour)
Rest for 15-20 minutes
Step 2 – Making Aloo Pooris:
- After 20 minutes, split the dough into equal sized small to medium balls
- in a flat surface, apply few drops of oil
- take one ball and start flattening it with chapthi rolling pin
- in a kadai, add oil for deep frying
- once hot, gently put the flattened poori inside
- turn upside down when bottom part turns golden brown
- take out when both sides are cooked
Aloo poori is ready to serve hot!!!
