Vegetable Momos is one of the delicious chinese starter recipe. momos are dumplings made with all purpose flour and a savory stuffing. This stuffing can be made with vegetables or paneer (cottage cheese) a part of vegetarian choice. Momos can always be tasted with a spicy chutney. this recipe includes detailed step by step instruction to prepare Vegetable Momos from Scratch along with Spicy Momos Chutney preparation
Ingredients to make Vegetable Momos:
Preparation Time:10 mins | Wait Time: 30 mins | Cook Time: 40 mins
For Momos Outer Cover:
- all purpose flour – 1 cup
- Salt as required
- Oil as required
- Water-1/4-1/2 cup
For Momos Vegetable Stuffing:
- Carrots – grated -1 Cup
- Cabbage -grated – 1 cup
- Spring onions – 4 tbsp
- Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
- Pepper – 1 tsp
- Oil as required
- Salt as required
Method:
Step 1 – Dough Preparation:
- In a bowl, add maida, salt and water
- mix everything together and prepare dough
- cover with damp cloth
- rest for 30 minutes
Step 2- Momos Stuffing Preparation:
- in a kadai/pan,add oil
- Once hot, add spring onion, ginger garlic paste. saute gently
- grated carrots, cabbage is added now along with required salt and pepper
- stir fry for 2-3 minutes on medium flame
- DO NOT OVERCOOK
Step 3 – Vegetable Momos:
- take small portion of dough
- dust with some flour on a flat surface
- spread the dough evenly
- make circles with mould/lid
- place vegetable stuffing (we prepared) in the middle
- close the momos by making pleats
- repeat the procedure

- in a steamer, place the prepared momos
- close with the lid. Steam cook for 15 minutes
(note: alternatively, idli plate can also be used)
After 15 minutes, turn off stove and enjoy momos with Spicy Momos Chutney
